Cultural Assets Mapping (CAM and CHM)

Community Conversations

From February through March 2019, the Bronx Council on the Arts (BCA) held 4 Community Conversations on the Cultural Assets Mapping Initiative, so that members of the community could weigh on what cultural resources should be mapped, what development information is important to document, and how community members look to access this information. Close to 100 community members participated in discussions around this initiative.

Roundtable Discussions

In May and November 2019, Bca held two roundtable discussions with organizations who have been working on other mapping initiatives in The Bronx and beyond. Since the launch of BCA's mapping project, we have followed a fully collaborative model in planning and design. The Roundtable is one more step in that process, and it seeks to establish a peer-learning network for a collaborative impact that would benefit all projects, and most importantly, make their footprint useful to our communities.

DCLA 

On May 2019, BCA hosted former Commissioner Tom Finkelpearl for CreateNYC: Office Hours with the Commissioner "Voices (Un)Heard," where we explored issues impacting the LGBTQ artists, while trying to identify opportunities to collaborate on solutions, In August, BCaA hosted the NYC Department fo Cultural Affairs (DCLA) for an info session to learn how to apply and secure City funding for arts and cultural activities. Arts or cultural nonprofit organizations, or unincorporated arts groups on their way to incorporation, attended.
